It is specified as a permitted edible flavor and is often used to prepare banana, apple, peach, cherry, orange juice, peanut, gum, tropical fruit and other flavors to give the product a rich fruity aroma. 2-Methylbutyrate-2-Methylbutyrate occurs naturally in hop oil, lingonberries, and cocoa beans, and is also used as a food flavoring.
